April Callen is a Principal Strategist at the FrameWorks Institute where she advances strategic outreach and engagement initiatives with partners across various fields of advocacy. April also leads FrameWorks’ equity working group and coordinates the organization’s external communications efforts. A trained cultural critic and communications strategist, April has worked in media and with nonprofit organizations for over ten years. Through a multitude of platforms and across different issue areas, she has helped people develop stronger communications practices around racial equity, gender justice, and economic mobility. Prior to joining FrameWorks, April was the manager of communications at Chicago Foundation for Women and was also a frequent on-air contributor to Vocalo, a next-generation radio station part of Chicago Public Media, that blends music, news, and culture. She holds a BA in communications and rhetoric studies from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta and an MA in media, culture, and society from DePaul University in Chicago.
