Framing Fundamentals for Multigenerational Approaches to Mental Health

A FrameWorks Communications Toolkit

Welcome to Framing Fundamentals for Multigenerational Approaches to Mental Health, a collection of framing recommendations, sample communications, and reference guides designed to help advocates and communicators advance a new understanding of mental health for people of all ages.

Introduction

Welcome to Framing Fundamentals for Multigenerational Approaches to Mental Health, a collection of framing recommendations, sample communications, and reference guides designed to help advocates and communicators advance a new understanding of mental health for people of all ages.

This toolkit, generously funded by the Ford Foundation, supports an effort to reframe and change the conversation about mental health and its overall connection with wellbeing. By helping advocates work together to frame mental health at all stages of the life course, the recommendations in this resource can encourage civic engagement with mental health issues and increase support for effective policies and programs. It can also help breakdown silos between child- and adult-facing mental health advocates by advancing a shared story about multigenerational approaches to mental health supports.

We encourage communicators to borrow language from this toolkit as is or adapt it to fit specific communications contexts. Citations or special permissions are not required. For other uses—such as incorporating materials into trainings or other communications resources—please refer to the FrameWorks Institute’s terms of use for guidance on seeking permissions.
