Summary

To arrive at the recommendations in the brief, the FrameWorks Institute applied Strategic Frame Analysis®, an approach to communications research and practice that yields strategies for shifting the discourse around social issues. This approach has been shown to increase understanding of, and engagement in, conversations about scientific and social issues.

This work builds on FrameWorks research that involved interviews with members of the public and experts and advocates working on issues related to spatial justice, including issues of race, place, and their relationship, which are described in a separate brief with an appended methods summary.

In this supplement, we describe our research in which we designed and tested frames to address the challenges and use the opportunities in public thinking about race, place, and power.
