Race, Class, and Place: A Communications Toolkbox for Organizers

This toolbox offers research-based guidance for communicating in ways that support organizing and powerbuilding. It draws on research about how to explain the ways racism and economic exploitation work together to shape places, move wealth out of communities, and concentrate power. The toolkit is designed for grassroots organizers, movement organizations, and others working to build collective power and transform unjust systems.

In each of the boxes below you'll see an explanation of the framing recommendation in the context of that tactic + examples of how to use the framing in practice. The recommendations build on movement wisdom and strategies already in use, while offering research-informed ways to extend and deepen these strategies.
