Building Support For Early Childhood Development And Learning In Kenya

Advocates for children and families in Kenya face a challenge: Kenyans—including those who make decisions about early childhood policies—don’t share experts’ understandings of early brain development or learning. To overcome this challenge, the FrameWorks Institute developed a suite of research and resources to help advocates translate the science of development and learning so they can build public support for programs and policies that support the very young. Resources include a research report that maps Kenyans’ attitudes and beliefs about early childhood development; a message brief that summarizes research findings and recommendations; and a communications toolkit that shows how to apply framing recommendations to communications practice. This project was sponsored by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and conducted in partnership with UNICEF, the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, and the Africa Early Childhood Network.
